Devices deployed at the Aran Pilot Site: a lot of work has been underway in the Aran Islands in the last few months, and the pilot now has 13 houses signed up to the project, with more to come. The householders are from a variety of demographics and family sizes and a wide range of technical ability.
Householders are very happy with the current installations which are listed below. They allow them to monitor and analyse their consumption and generation of electricity and, crucially, change the way they use their energy. Indeed, awareness and education around the way we use our energy is vital in the transition to clean energy which is ongoing on the islands.
Feedback from current participants has been very positive, they find the equipment easy to manage and understand and any issues identified at the beginning have been quickly rectified by CFOAT and the RESPOND team.
In the coming weeks CFOAT will be hosting a focus group with participants of the project to discuss automated DR functions in their home. Thus, the RESPOND team will then analyse the results and adapt our approach accordingly.
By the end of 2019, CFOAT hopes to have installed the equipment in up to 20 houses and for them to be ready to begin using the RESPOND platform.
